Carmen Marc Valvo remains a mainstay of democratic glamour. So much so, that even The Wall Street Journal recently agreed. Although not within the budget of every woman, Carmen’s uncompromising attention to detail and flair for flattering every figure makes him a favorite of perhaps the broadest range of women draped in haute couture.
From Queen Latifah to the Princess of Sweden, Carmen designs dreams for women of all sizes – from size 2 to 22. Perhaps that’s why Anika Rose, one of the stars of this seasons hit movie release, Dreamgirls, chose Carmen Marc Valvo to wear to the movie’s recent premier.
His spring and summer collections, though consistent with the currently popular subdued palette that seems, to my regret, to have taken over our recent foray into vibrant colors, Carmen does not entirely abandon feminine mystique the way many other designers have. Sequins, unique textures – including diaphanous effects with faux nude undershearing reflecting a range of skin tones, are all consistent with his unique ability to fuse classic elegance with his modern take on pure, unadulterated style.
Both chic and sweet – both uptown cool and downtown hot, Carmen proves once again that being a woman, regardless of type or size, can be a sizzling, yet refined experience. That’s something new in great fashion. That’s Carmen Marc Valvo. I just wish his attitude and desgin could be found in more categories and on the backs, arms, eyes and even underneath the clothes of more women. Why? Because celebrating women is and always should be what fashion is all about. Bravo to Carmen Marc Valvo. Thank you on behalf of my mother, my sister, my niece and all the other women that I love. You seem to love them almost as much as I do.
- Raymond Nadeau
Living Brands host Raymond Nadeau’s interviews haute couture designer Carmen Marc Valvo. Raymond brings us into the homes and businesses of real living brands, and asks his subjects challenging, provocative questions about life, design, business and more. I can’t count the number of times i’ve seen one of his interviewees express shock (either verbal or facial) at the sophisticated level of his questions and commentary on just about everything. Nothing is taboo.
The goal is for the viewer to walk away from each episode a little smarter about the business of brand building, beauty and fashion than when they started.
Every episode of Living Brands with Raymond Nadeau will air on TV on the Beauty & Fashion channel (currently in 30 million households) and online. Each online episode will be accompanied by a short write-up from Raymond about the episode.
