Wikis
Wikis are a type of website that allows users to easily add and edit content and is especially suited for collaborative writing. The Wikipedia project and the Los Angeles Times Wikitorial are two of the most well known instances of these tools. They have created a stir in the publishing world because virtually anyone can edit work done by other authors and the notion of a trusted source is eroded.
However, as this technology moves closer to the mainstream, some companies are using wiki technology to improve internal processes, gather input from across the web, or gain valuable insight from customers. Our next Brown Bag Lunch will feature panelists that have started to use this technology.
Topics will include:Â
-Where can the wiki add value?Â
-What software options are out there and which option is best for our project?Â
-Should the wiki be inside or outside the firewall?Â
-What considerations are there in setting terms for contributors? Moderator:
