This video captures the ambiance of a St. Petersburg white night through a SMS conversation featuring two young people in love, their friend, and a taxi driver.
Boy.Girl.City. explores whether one can express their feelings with the shorthand communication available by texted phone messages. Here, Russian words, usually written in Cyrillic letters, need to be written with Latin letters instead because of the software limitations in the phones. The result is poetic confusion as names of famous Russian literary characters — such as Onegin — appear but refer to night clubs where the two are trying to meet.
Video is split between three screens, each representing a separate voice: the girl’s, the boy’s, the city’s.
The film was conceived as part of a trilogy made of a love story, a crime story and a science fiction story.
