Online travel has killed the friendly travel agent by crushing margins and putting flight planning at our fingertips, but sometimes online travel “service” is pretty….well…not helpful. I’m heading to LA for a meeting @ 7pm on the 5th of November. I have to be in San Jose for a conference the morning of the 6th. Ideally, there would be a late night flight from LA (around 11pm) to San Jose.

The above was my best option for the time I wanted to leave. Leave LA at 10:45, arrive in San Jose at noon the next day. I even like the team effort between two competing airlines (United and US Air) to make my desired departure time a reality. That’s called coopetition, right? I think driving, or hitching a ride on a giant (or small) pig would be faster.

So I challenge people to top the absurdity of that recommended travel schedule. Post your comments (and pictures from Orbitz) below…
