AdobeMAX - Flex Skinning with Juan Sanchez
MAX Coverage Made Possible By:
ScribeMedia.Org coverage of Adobe Max was made possible by On2 Technologies
I shall never say another bad word about Adobe acquiring Macromedia; the changes under the new flag have only been for the better, especially within the ‘Family Flash’. Though there was rudimentary CSS support within Flash 8, UI developers the world around rejoiced when real skinning using CSS and external assets was introduced with Flex 2.
The pioneer of Flex skinning - Juan Sanchez of www.scalenine.com fame - talked with us regarding his experience exploring Flex2’s CSS understanding, his role in helping Adobe flesh out the CSS properties view in Flex beta 3 (he even got his name in the credits), and the bright future the hot application Adobe teased us with, ‘Thermo‘.
Check out his blog for a tutorial on how to use the recently Adobe released Flex Skin Design Extentions for creating dynamic and stateful user interface elements for Flex.
Garry Schafer is one of the Big Geeks at www.scribemedia.org. Unfortunately there was a drastic misunderstanding about what the job entailed, so now he spends his time biting the heads off of chickens and re-living his circus past.
Garry Schafer is ScribeMedia's Director of Interactive Media. His weapons of choice are many fold, but he's quite partial to Flex as he builds out live and on-demand media players and a host of other apps.
