User Generated World with College Humor
Way, way way back when, when you (yes, “You!” instead of Vladimir Putin) were Time’s Person of the Year, we sat down with College Humor’s Josh Abramson to talk online media, viral video, and how and where traditional media companies were striking out in their attempts to target the Internet set.
Abramson started College Humor with Rick Van Veen back in 1999 and were some of the first to build a successful media brand through user generated content. The site, and company, soon expanded to include video service provider Vimeo and the apparel company BustedTees.
In 2006, Barry Diller’s InterActiveCorp acquired Connected Ventures, the College Humor’s parent company.
In this interview, David Kirkpatrick, senior editor for Internet and technology at Fortune Magazine, discusses online strategies with Abramson in Abramson’s New York City loft.
Alexandra Lerman is the founder of SMAC: ScribeMedia Arts and Culture. She is also a video artist and a documentary filmmaker.
