His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Mubadala, opens the World Future Energy Summit with his official address.
Sh. Mohammed sits on the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, which is responsible for the development and planning of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Sh. Mohammed is also a member of the Supreme Petroleum Council, which is responsible for all oil-related matters concerning the country.
In thanking the WFES attendees and wishing them success for the coming years, Sh. Mohammed expresses his hope that those gathered in his audience can find and harness future sources of energy for the world.
The World Future Energy Summit, held by Masdar on January 21-23, 2008 in Abu Dhabi features the world’s leading innovators, educators, scientists, venture capitalists and experts in the field of future energy.
Through its Masdar Initiative, Abu Dhabi is leading significant developments in the sector of future energy. These efforts include the world’s first attempt to create a zero-carbon, zero-waste city, the development of a national carbon capture and storage network, and creating a whole new economic sector dedicated to sustainable energy and new clean technologies.
