I can remember filing stories on a floppy disc and (horrors) walking over to my editor’s desk to hand it to him so he could do his thing. And while in the last 20 years technology has dramatically changed the news business, some aspects have blessedly remained the same, namely interviewing people.
I’ve done more Q&As than I care to count. But it’s one of the reasons why I got into journalism in the first place. When I was still a pup I read that the beauty of journalism is that you can learn a little about a lot and I thought, yup, that’s for me (after realizing that starting in the backcourt for the New York Knicks wasn’t in the cards).
Throughout my career the vast majority of my interviews have been conducted on the phone or in-person. But now ScribeMedia.org is giving me the opportunity to interview people in an online-video format — and I’m stoked.
I’ll be the host of a new series on ScribeMedia.org, titled “From Print to Digital.” The series, which debuts May 30 as a live video Webcast, will provide an in-depth look at the ongoing transformation of print media to digital media. Each show, focusing on a different element of media, will examine the challenges media outlets and advertising agencies face in order to position their companies (and customers’ brands) for the future. The series will feature interviews with top publishing and advertising executives and the changes they’re making to try and stay ahead of the curve.
First up: Steve Weitzner, Chairman-CEO of Ziff Davis Enterprise. Weitzner, who took charge of the company in January, may be feeling the heat a bit more than his b-to-b media brethren because his audience (technology executives) is made up of the early adapters.
I have several questions prepared for Steve, but I’d love to get your input. What would you like to ask him if you had the chance? Anything is fair game, so long as its within the realm of b-to-b media, marketing and advertising. We’re all about community here at ScribeMedia.org so let’s open up the floor. We look forward to hearing from you.
While I’ve done plenty of live audio Webcasts, I’m most excited for the TV-like nature of the show. It’s akin to a live call-in TV show, only online, and more interactive.
