Black President: Nas Remix

We’re big fans of the mashup and we’re big fans of Nas’ latest reflection on what an Obama presidency would mean. And while we liked will.i.am’s video earlier this year, we especially like Nas’ because of the central question he asks: What would an Obama presidency really mean? How would he navigate the hopes and dreams and the reality of the world today?

Double extra kudos to Nas for pulling in a Tupac reference, and his song “Changes,” wondering “Although it seems heaven-sent, we ain’t ready to see a black president.”

Hat tip to Salon’s Alex Koppelman and Time’s Ana Marie Cox.

“America Surprised Us and Let Black Man Guide Us” indeed.

  1. I don’t think this Nas track is a mashup (or a remix), is it? Good song though.

  2. “Mccain got apologies ain’t nobody hearing that - people need honesty” one of my favorites from this song. Let’s hope its what the “people” really want and vote for on Nov. 4th.
