From the technology side of the ScribeMedia house…
Garry just finished building Version 1.0 of our new flex pay media application. The Advertising Research Foundation is using it for people who want to purchase the conference multimedia. I believe something like 17 people bought access to all conference multimedia for $495 from their most recent conference.
The idea is that someone can log in and see every session in either a Brady Bunch grid view, or as show below, a list view.

If you click on any thumbnail, all the information about that session appears on the left side AND the actual video from the session starts playing. If you want to take the video with you, say on a transatlantic flight, you simply click the “Download” button and the video downloads to your desktop and watch on your computer or put it on your iPhone.
Users can also search for specific sessions in both Grid & List view and only sessions that have that word or phrase in the title or session description will show up.
Jason and crew are filming the ARF’s next conference right now, so all those videos will be in the pay media store as well. The idea is that the ARF will sell more conference multimedia with each upcoming conference. So if the first time around they sold 17 all access passes, this time the goal is to sell 30, then 45, etc etc.
They hit people before, during and after the conference to buy the pay media. Before the conference, when people are registering for the conference, in the online registration form there is a check box to buy the post-conference multimedia. During the conference there are announcements and people can buy the multimedia right at the event. And after the conference they send email announcements that the conference multimedia is now available for purchase.
In Version 2.0, people will be able to buy individual sessions.
More to come in the form of a screen capture explaining the application, but a very cool, user friendly application to allow people to buy conference multimedia online. Goodbye DVDs!!
