This is Getting Embarrassing

This is getting embarrassing.

The hoopla in the Lefty-sphere is more one of pity than the sort of teeth-gnashing fury that drove liberals batty in campaigns past. When first released today, the immediate response to McCain campaign’s “The One” video was that this was a spoof on the silliness that has become the McCain media campaign. And then the video appeared on the McCain Web site.

Then there was an attempt to deconstruct the piece: Ok, allusions to the Matrix… but wait, Neo was the One so that allusion doesn’t work, what is it the McCain campaign is really trying to say? That Obama’s the greatest thing since sliced bread, we all know it, but is sliced bread really ready to lead?

Finally, over at the Huffington Post John Ridley
pleaded
, “Give me, please, the salacious insidiousness of the Swiftboat Vets for Truth.”

At Salon, Alex Koppelman said, no, really, once upon a time McCain spoke of shared purpose and common understanding if, perhaps, some disputes among friends.

Thoughts here at the homefront: who’s the director channeling their inner 9-year-old’s frustration that there’s a new kid in town with all the cool toys?

Update: Perhaps it’s all just good fun, in a we-don’t-really-know-how-to-do-this-but-we’ll-give-it-a-try-anyway type of way.
