Yet another twist in the net neutrality dispute involving Comcast. The Federal Communications Commission on Friday ordered Comcast to stop blocking and delaying Internet traffic and to publicly disclose (within 30 days) its traffic-management policies. The ruling bypasses a previous agreement between Comcast and file-sharing network BitTorrent to try to reach a solution on P2P without government interference. Whatever. The FCC’s action was prompted by complaints by Free Press and Public Knowledge that Comcast has blocked the use of file-sharing of movies, music and other heavy files. The FCC said that Comcast at first denied responsibility and has since changed its story three times. The FCC didn’t fine Comcast but ordered it to cease all “discriminatory network-management practices” by the end of the year.
