Report: People Spending Less Time with Newspaper Web Sites

As newspapers grapple with declining circulation and an erosion in advertising, the saving grace has been newspaper Web sites. However, an exclusive report from Editor & Publisher shows that nearly half of the top 30 newspaper Web sites suffered in July a decline in ‘time spent’ compared with the same period in 2007. The Newspaper Association of America recently reported that ‘time spent per person’ with newspaper Web sites was on the wane in the second quarter compared with the year-earlier period.
