Gynormous Manfrotto Tripod Eats Unsuspecting Drunk

Bogen is sponsoring some ScribeMedia programming for filmmakers and producers. They sent us a bunch of Manfrotto 536 MPRO Carbon Fibre Tripods, which were introduced at NAB 2008, and a bunch Manfrotto 519 Professional Fluid Video Heads to go on the tripods.

Brad took this picture of me after I explored the Manfrotto tripod’s enormous height capabilities for the first time. I kept pulling and pulling on all the legs until they were fully extended. by the time I was done the tripod was 7 feet high.

The Manfrotto 536 MPRO Carbon Fibre Tripod is, well, really light. No wonder the military and aircraft industries like carbon fiber so much. I can pick the tripod + head up with slightly more than one finger and slightly less than one hand’s worth of effort.

The Manfrotto 519 Professional Fluid Video Heads are smooth like butter. panning and tilting up and down are satisfying experiences.

I’m excited to have them in our collection. I told everyone on the team that the upside is that we have some great new tripods. The downside (for them) is that now no one can come back from a shoot and tell me that the horrible panning was because the tripod sucks. They can’t blame it on the tripod.
