Tooting My Green Horn
i feel like companies such as Exxon-Mobile, BP, Shell, GE, Vale Mining, Chesapeake Energy advertising their “greenness” are the new car companies on TV.
every other advertisement on TV is one of these fossil fuel companies tooting their own horn about how green they are, how much they care about the earth, the environment, the local communities where they drill / mine. they take a business reality (that they have to become more efficient in their drilling and mining because there are less easy resources to pull from the earth) as a green inspired initiative, not a business reality inspired initiative.
Aubrey McClendon tells me we need CNG. never mind that he doesn’t tell me what it is. Never mind that he happens to own a CNG company. T Boone Pickens tells me big wind farms are the solution. Never mind that he has placed a huge bet and owns a wind farm company that requires a vastly upgraded utility grid to work (since his solution plugs into the utility company / grid) and public support / buy in to get his personal payoff.
