Behringer 2442FX: Big Tube Sound

After just one use on a live streaming video broadcast from our studio and a conference production out in the field I feel it necessary to award the Behringer 2442FX an unequivocal thumbs up.
We tested the unit out in the field at a conference we were producing. We had 6 wireless lavaliers coming into the unit which then fed out to the PA system and to a Datavideo HS-1000 video mixing board. The video mixer also had two high definition cameras and a computer monitor connected to it. It ran out to a projector and 6 LCD screens strategically placed around the venue.
Yesterday, we used the Behringer for a live video webcast we broadcast from the studio. 3 wireless lavaliers and an iPod were running into the board, which then fed the audio mix to the computer that was broadcasting the webcast to about 50 online participants.

The smooth, and I emphasize smooth, control over live assets WITH effects processing is an essential feature that was left out of earlier generation analog/digital hybrids and was always lacking in most 24 units with live user-ability.
The 24 channel analog mixer by Behringer comes in ahead of the pack with a heavy freight: A new studio-grade 24-bit FX processor, USB/Audio Interface, an EQ reminiscent of the classic rock era mega-consoles that lent their sound to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Cream and King Krimson, and the piece de’ resistance’, ENYX Mic Preamps which provide warmth, tone and headroom that screams “TUBES, TUBES. TUBES.”
Combined with the plug and play user-ability provided by the USB interface, the Behringer XENYX 2442FX delivers. Whether, rock god or aspiring studio mogul, this is a piece of gear you need in your stable. My only strong critique…I wish Behringer would have had the foresight to equip the unit with Firewire 800 outputs rather than USB 2.0.
