Since I know at some point I’ll need this type of solution, I figure if I blog about it I can look it up later. Poll Everywhere is a text message polling solution that allows you to go to the Poll Everywhere web site, log in and create a poll.
Then, when you’re standing in front of a room full of people you can show the poll on a projection screen and tell people “to vote for choice A, text 12345 to 44292, to vote for choice B, text 54321 to 44292….”
Then, in real time, people can text their answers, watch and see the results. So instead of having to rent survey hardware and hand it out to everyone who enters the conference room, you can just rely on the fact that 95% of the people in the room have cell phones with text messaging capabilities.
Imagine if our political elections were this simple – for Barack Obama, text 12345. for John McCain, text 54321.
Then you’d get an automated text response “thank you for your vote. to see who won this election, tune into any major TV network.”
From the site:
Poll Everywhere replaces expensive proprietary audience response hardware with standard web technology. It’s the easiest way to gather live responses in any venue: conferences, presentations, classrooms, radio, tv, print — anywhere.
