Count AT&T among the telecom companies imposing bandwidth caps on subscribers, per MediaPost. The telco is imposing limits of between 20 and 150 GB per month on a trial basis in Reno, Nev. (limits depend on which of five service plans consumers sign up for). An AT&T spokesman said that less than 1% of its users currently consume bandwidth of up to 150 GB per month. But, of course, that percentage is only going to grow. And if you follow this stuff to a logical conclusion, more and more consumers will end up paying a premium for high-speed services online. Comcast earlier this year announced limits of 250 GB a month.
