Wafian HR-F1 HD Video Field Recorder

Andrew Shipsides of AbelCine Tech stopped by the Scribe Studio to show us the nuts and bolts of the Wafian HR-F1.

The Wafian HR-F1 is an HD video field recorder for direct-to-disk acquisition. It offers the ability to bypass HDV tape compression and instead records footage directly into master quality wavelet based files. These files are stored within a hot-swappable drive that offers over 10 hours of full HD 10 bit 4:2:2 recording within a single disk.

Recording direct-to-disk eliminates the need to later ingest your footage and hence, it simplifies and expedites the workflow. The recorder’s multiple I/Os allow video and audio compatibility with most cameras, decks, and IT systems. Its 8.4″ front panel touch-screen LCD eliminates the need for a CRT monitor and allows the user to both monitor and review (playback) the content being recorded on-set.

The HR-F1 is powered via AC or DC, and is part of Wafian’s family of recorders. All of Wafian’s recorders are centered around high video quality recording and massive storage, covering a broad range of applications including film, broadcast, event production and post-production among others.
