Sean Knapp, CTO, ooyala

We were in LA last week producing a live video webcast of the Digital Hollywood LA conference. In between sessions I had a chance to interview some of the people shaping the future of media delivery.

ooyala is a video platform company that was founded by 3 former Google engineers. I spoke to Sean Knapp, CTO, about the opportunity they saw in the market that inspired them to leave a cushy job on the Google campus two years ago for the risky unknown of Internet start-up.

We talked about entrepreneurship, the ooyala video platform, delivering greater and greater bitrates to video consumers, the needs of media properties and other customers, encoding and transcoding for cross-platform delivery, and live video webcasting of sports, conferences, concerts, and other types of events.
