We made the most of our time at the Design Management Institute’s annual conference in Vermont.

Our interviews with interesting thought leaders in the design industry didn’t stop with Robyn Waters. We also had a chance to sit down (and have a few glasses of wine) with Peter Phillips, design guru and author of Creating the Perfect Design Brief: How to Manage Design for Strategic Advantage.

Why did Peter write the book? Because nothing like it currently exists. Look for a good book on creating design briefs and you won’t find one…until now.

About Creating the Perfect Design Brief:

Design professionals and their non-design business partners will learn not only about the process of creating the design brief but also how to help change the perception of design from a service to a core, strategic business resource. Learn how to use the most essential elements and formats, assemble the best possible team, implement strategies for getting your design brief approved, and establish visibility, credibility, and trust with non-design business partners.

From the chapters of Creating the Perfect Design Brief, readers will discover:

• What distinguishes a great design brief from an adequate one?

• How to structure the best possible team to create a design brief.

• What should be involved in its development?

• How to communicate effectively with non-design business partners.

This unique resource, now available in English and Spanish, reveals the most effective formats for design briefs and how to cope with changes that take place in today’s business world. Using the strategies in this indispensable guide, design professionals will gain new respect, credibility, and trust for their field at large.
