Google, Privacy and My Priest Meets Alter Boy Porn Fetish

With the buzz around Viacom’s court ruling against Google to turn over user information, I checked out Google’s new privacy link on their search home page.

Then I started digging around and found some corporate PR videos.

In the first in a series of short, informative videos on privacy, Google talks about what information we collect when you use our search engine and the steps we’ve taken to protect it. In future videos, we’ll talk about why Google keeps logs, what information we record when you’re signed into a Google account and steps you can take to increase your privacy when surfing online. Much of this information is already available at our online Privacy Center at http://www.google.com/privacy.html

In this handy dandy video reminiscent of 1950s informational corporate videos, Maile Ohye explains Google search privacy in plain, simple, easy to understand English that leaves no room for interpretation or confusion.

Everything I need to know about how and why they store my personal information, and the consequences of their actions, is explained. Fortunately, there are no consequences. Because Google is the Good Empire, and I take everything they say at face value, I don’t need to dig any deeper.

Thanks Google. Case closed. And I look forward to the next video in your informative PR series. Perhaps you can explain why limiting search results in China is actually GOOD for democracy.
